Participanti bought this snow plow from an amish guy a couple years ago it works great. it works like a box scraper but the back opens up when you trip it to dump your load.i am not sure what they are called, around here people call them shetler plows after the guy that makes them.i was just curouis if they are common in other parts of the country or just around here because of the amish. here is some pics of a single horse model they also have team models that are quite a bit larger.

ParticipantThey are very common among the amish here in Wisconsin. They all have big ones for teams. I’ve never seen a single horse one. They can really clear snow with them but they need their longest legged horses when the snow gets deep. My short legged Haflingers wouldn’t be much good!

ParticipantI wonder how it operates on long driveways. It seems the plow would leave piles to deal with as it plows or am I missing something?

ParticipantThey pull off the road here and there and leave piles.

Participantwhen the box gets full you pull off to the side and trip the latch to open the back.then then when you get back on track you close it again.the best part is you dont creat any banks that drift back in your piles are rounded up and packed in.it is a good work out for the horse.great tool for breaking hot horses.the more stubborn they are the harder you can make em work.
