ParticipantI just would like your opinion(s) on this JD sulky plow I looked at today. Wheels are a little wobbly – nothing unusual. The bearing “collar” for the furrow wheel looks different (new). Also, the original handle for angling the furrow wheel looks to have been broken. The share/moldboard is an Oliver …
Anything else I’m missing (I know pictures are really difficult to evaluate).
Thanks

ParticipantI know. That’s the first bit of help I need to get it on my post as a thumbnail. I do know how to post into the photo gallery just not onto my own messages. Then I can show you “the plow”.

ModeratorDid you measure to see if the beam is sprung?
With the bottom touching on level ground the bridle end of the beam should be 15-17 inches off the ground, at least with a walking plow, it could be a different for a sulky.February 15, 2010 at 2:53 pm #57922J-L
ParticipantGeoff, I’m not an expert on plows by any means, but that’s in better shape than anything I’ve found. I have another JD two way plow that may be a parts machine. That’s usually what I find around this rock pile we call Wyoming.
For what it’s worth, that plow doesn’t look bad from the pictures. If you can get it bought reasonably, I’d do it.February 16, 2010 at 1:06 am #57926TBigLug
ParticipantThey’re nice plows. I got one just like it only not as shiny. A little finicky until they get freed up but work good for us.
