ParticipantHad a chance to get to the woodlot and move some wood today. I used a small scoot that is capable of handling a couple of 8″ to 10″ logs. I like this arrangement because of the scoot’s ability to elevate the leading edge and eliminate snagging the but of the logs. It is not something you would use for production logging; however, it works well for me and my single horse arrangement with a little snow on the ground.

ParticipantThat’s very interesting. Thanks for showing the snaps. Did you make the scoot? What’s it made of?

ModeratorLooks like a valuable tool. It may be small, but it will go a long way toward improving the practical application of the single horse, exactly the reason why it should be considered for use in production logging.
Will you bring that to Athol?

ParticipantI have two of these and can bring them both to Athol. They are very easy to build and we could construct a couple if people are interested.

ParticipantVery nice, Ed. That rig very closely resembles what we also refer to as a a “go devil”. I agree with Carl… this can definitely go a long way towards increasing production while skidding with a single. Less resistance is always a great thing. I look forward to meeting you in Athol!
