ParticipantJohn, That is a good looking spreader! Have you used it ? Galvanized sides, very little rust! It is a 4a according to the owners manual I have. What you need is the option they show in the manual. It is a spiral top beater. I think that would eliminate your rock breakage problem. My neighbor has one. I’ll try to post a picture of his if you want. I’ll keep my eyes open for parts for you. Good luck

ParticipantSorry John, I don’t think I have what you need right now anyway. I’m buying selling and trading all the time. What model do you have ? I believe the one I have here for parts is a model 200. I attached a picture of what is left of it. See anything else you need ? I ship spreader parts all over the country.

ParticipantJohn, Either one of those will work fine with your Clydes. I use a model K John Deere on rubber and pull it with 2, 3, or 4 abreast. depending on what we are doing. There is a group of us here in eastern SD that get together in the Spring and Fall and have a manure haulin’. We’ll have 6-8 teams and spreaders show up to haul at someones place. We do cheat a little by loading with a tractor and loader or a skid steer. My team is just saddle horses (Paints and Quarter Horses ) so it is a bit much for 2 of them to haul all day. But with 3 abreast I can haul all day. (about 20 loads) If anyone needs a spreader (or parts) I have 27 of them in different stages of disrepair. Mostly JD but have a few New Idea and one IH. I’m attaching a picture of my model K with 4 abreast. Good Luck

ParticipantI have a saddle and harness repair shop here on the farm in SD. I get all my leather and hardware from Weaver Leather out of Mt. Hope Ohio. They are always freindly and helpful.

ParticipantNeal, I have a McCormick Deering 8 fork tedder that I fixed up last year. It really works good ! I don’t know why they weren’t more popular around here but you just don’t see them. I had two windrows of hay last year thrown together ready to round bale and I got rained out befor I got done. I had about 15 acres left. After a couple of days I hooked the team to the tedder and went over those wet windrows and 4 hours later it was dry enough to bale. I have an original manual for mine, I could copy for you ?? I actually need a part for mine. It is on the end of the crank shaft. A castle nut looking piece that holds the fork arm on and has a cotter pin in it. How about a trade ???

The #9 has a five foot cutting bar.
I don’t know the difference between a high gear or regular gear.If the tool box lid is still on it I think it should say high gear or regular gear on it.

ParticipantLooks like a model 999 . I used one this spring to plant 5 acres of Roundup Ready corn. It worked very well. The one I used did not have the fertilizer attachment or the front dolly wheel on it . Yours has all the bells and whistles ! Have fun !

ParticipantI found a tool box lid for my Cockshutt Mower, now I need one for a Emerson Brantingham Horse mower. I think it says Emerson Brantingham across the top , Farm Machinery across the bottom , and in the middle has a diamond with E-B in it. Any help finding one for sale would be appreciated. Thanks

ParticipantI finally got to mow with my team and 10A mower last week. What a thrill! Everything worked great, but the flywheel seal leaks. (Sounds like that is a common problem with all of them!) Anyway, I still haven’t found a toolbox lid for it and I’m wanting to paint it. Can anyone help me with the proper paint codes for it ? I would like to get it right if I could. I put a picture of it on the gallery, I can,t seem to attach it to this. Hope the picture helps you Jeremy! Thanks

ParticipantI’m going to a swap meet this weekend in Freemont Nebr. I’ve had good luck finding manuals there but , what would you want for yours , and is it an original? I bought it for iron price, just me and the iron buyer bidding! Thanks

Yikes, the right front “Spindle” (the piece the holds the wheel on the front axle) it is cast and in about five pieces. Anyone know where I could find a replacement? I live in Beldenville, WI (western WI). Any info would be great. thank you. I hope all of your spring work is going well and safe.
thanks
GeorgeGeorge, What model spreader do you have? I have a few parts machines that I have been selling parts off of. Hope I can help.

Welcome Bill
know what you mean about horse machinery. Between the iron buyers and the people who use good pieces as yard art , not much left for those of us that still use it. I have started to design and built what I need. Built a three wheel for cart with a hydraulic 3 point hitch last winter(works okay but will have to tweak a couple of things this winter). Working on a ground drive PTO addition for future use.Welcome

SE MinnDan, you sound like a guy I need to talk to! Have you ever made a round bale unroller? One that I can pull with my team? I’m looking for something simple and light as my team is a pair of registered Paint mares and really aren’t made for pulling the big loads. Anybody got any plans for something like that? Thanks

Welcome Bill. I’ve been to some places in SD. Some very productive country there. I thought there was a lot of old horse equipment layin around there too, but that was a long time ago when I went through.
It’s good to have more new folks here and some different perspectives are always welcome. As you’ve probably read, there are some interesting folks that post on here. Many people with great experience. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.There was a lot of horse equipment here but about a year ago scrap iron price got up to $200 a ton.
We lost a lot of it!!!

ParticipantI tried to contact Balsters a while back looking for ledger plates for my Cockshutt mower and didn’t have much luck getting ahold of them. Anyone else try lately?
