ModeratorNo worries Scott, we’ve got you covered. Bunkhouse is yours Friday night and anybody else who wants to come in Friday is welcome. I live at the bottom of the driveway up to the barnyard and bunkhouse so I will be right there. Here is my cell phone if you can’t find it too well late at night. If anybody else needs anything, feel free to call. 978 413 5457

ModeratorThanks for the advice George, the horse is a brabant-belgian cross chunk, not the greatest match for my leggy belgians but just what I have been wanting. When I went to try him out, it had been a year since he had done anything, but he dove right into the collar and bridle. I was a little nervous when I first drove him out of the barn because he went out with speed but I am just not used to that with my team. We harrowed the owner’s garden and he was great.

ModeratorScott, it would be so great if you could make it out east. I don’t mean to try and put you to work if you make it, but that presentation you did at mofga last winter was pretty cool and I thought maybe if there was time Saturday night??? But only if it is easy on you.

ModeratorHey Jay, I would like to come up and visit, hope you can come down to our place too, we could definitely work on your sled here if we end up having that get-together here this early winter. I was thinking maybe we could build a scoot too.

ModeratorMark, the second weekend in December maybe, because our programs will just be ending but there will still be staff and apprentices around. But whenever it works best for everybody. Thanks Carl and Ed for the enthusiasm, it would be pretty cool to have a couple of bobsleds going in line down to the sawmill. I’ll have to make sure to have a bunch down already. Erika, I will email Jean this weekend, let me know if there is anything else I can do to make it happen. We recently built a wood fired brick oven and we keep it going all week long, so we would definitely have pizza and good food, although it would be hard to compare to Janet Bailey’s cooking.

ModeratorThanks for all your comments. As soon as we get back from the Dixie Draft horse and Mule sale I’ll load it up. I bought a forecart for 125 dollars, a Badger made in Wisconsin. I never heard of it before. It’s pretty old but I think I got a pretty good deal.

ModeratorThanks Andy, tomorrow I am going to drive the carriage bolts through from the top like I should have done in the first place and also move the doubletree forward a bit. Can’t wait to get it out in the woods, I already have a brow loaded and waiting.

ModeratorHey Mark, just wondering if you have gotten a dog yet? Here are some pictures of our farm collie, Ness. She is the best dog we have ever had, good herder and great companion. She knows her farm well and where all the animals need to be. We didn’t teach her, she just watched and learned how to get the cows in and out of the barn, the chickens and cats out of the garden, and she runs ahead of the horses when we are driving on the road. We got her from upstate New York, Gaia Gift Farm, Sue Hogan. Don’t know if she still breeds them.

ModeratorWhat kind of work have they done so far? are they used to manure spreaders and noisy implements? what do you mean by free lease? thanks alot

ModeratorThanks Mitch and Carl. That makes alot of sense driving the carriage bolts into the hole to make the heads flat. Now here’s one more and maybe the last because I am really close to finishing. I have the tongue and roll all put together with the rings on the end of the roll. But I haven’t drilled the holes in the ends yet. The old sled had bolts through the roll and through the end of the pins!!! I will just drill the hole a 16th smaller than the pin and with pins through runners drive that puppy together, Right? I am nervous it’s not going to be tight enough I guess. Thanks again for your help, you guys are the best.
