ParticipantJust my personal opinion… I don’t think that we should have to pay for someone else to get an education. My two sons worked hard to get scholarships for college. They both have 4yr. degrees. I didn’t pay for anything except that I bought them both a new computer. One came out of college with a $500.00 debt and the other with a $8000.00 debt. I don’t think that’s to bad. The difference is that one son is a real tight-wad and was always looking for more scholarships. I think they should have to earn their education, not have it given to them. Nothing in life is free… JMHO

ParticipantI don’t know what HP you need but most all PTO equipment is designed to run at 540 RPM.

ParticipantIt almost looks to me that there was a hole for an evener in the pole right where it is broken. That would go along with Dale’s idea of the hold backs. I have never seen the single trees mounted solid to the running gear so I have to go with Dale on this one. JMHO

ParticipantYou can do it either way.My DIL bred her quarter horse mare to a belgian stud. The outcome was a large horse that had quarter horse conformation. I have a cross the other way(belgian mare to a quarter horse stud). the out come looks like an almost perfect 15/3 hand belgian mare. I know that that isn’t always the case though. My mare has a full sister that looks like a large quarter horse. I think it’s a gamble..But to answer your question, you can breed either way..HTH

ParticipantI,m not an oxen person but that looks about right to me.When I saw the one at the fair I really didn’t pay much attention to how it was made,I guess I should have.

ParticipantYes,I have seen them. Once in a while as a team but usually as a single. Might see some pictures in Rural Heritage magazine.I didn’t see any in the last couple but I know I’ve seen them.Saw a single at our county fair this year.. carl

ParticipantI will agree that it has a very limited memory, but for the most part the memory is that when it bends, it stays bent..

ParticipantThere seems to be enough around northern N.Y. but the prices are out of this world. Anywhere’s from $70.00 to $135.00. And not many near the low end. Try craig’s list.

ParticipantJust to give you my opinion of steel poles… I wouldn’t give you .10 cents for one. They have no memory. My son has one on one of his forecarts and it was bent the first time it got pushed on a little. Like I said,JMHO.
