On one of my wagons (homemade, not very old) it has a chain from each end of the evener back to the fifth wheel. It limits how much the evener can swing if one horse gets ahead of the other.

Maybe that is a holdback for the evener.

That will come in handy, I am planning on putting a lean too on the barn for a workshop in half and storage on the other half. I am planning on putting a jib crane in it. I saw a program on RFD top shops a while back and that looked handy.

I was at the Horse Progress Days on Friday. I had a wonderful time, the weather was perfect. I was able to pick up some needed parts although I didn’t, get everything I needed, as I am only about 2 1/2 hours south of Arthur, I figured now I have a reason to go back. I hope everyone had as good a time as me.

I was finally able to get my first cutting in. I used the horses to rake on Friday, with rain coming I had it round baled, good thing we got 2.5″ on Saturday. It was my first time raking hay with horses, I really enjoyed it. Here is a picture of us enjoying a shade tree. I have just bought a sulky plow now I am going to learn how to plow.

Glad you’re safe. It appears your schooling came at a small price. One thing I have learned being around horses, whether riding or driving is you never know what’s up next, the only thing is to try to stop it before it becomes a problem. Stay safe

I cut the pasture on Memorial Day, rained 7/10ths on it 2 hours after i got done, rained again Tuesday am, had a nice wind Tuesday and Wednesday, tedded Wednesday noon and baled wednesday evening. had some wet bales where the wind couldn’t get to it, fed them to the neighbors cows. isn’t hay making fun. now waiting on real dry weather to put up the alfalfa/ grass fields. have fun and enjoy.

Thank you, yes they are great team. My buddy ( former owner) and I gave buggy rides with them this past weekend in town for the Christmas stroll.
