ParticipantThe horse I’m training is a rideing horse and I have big plans for her and her team mate. The way I see it is I don’t have to dump gas in my horse every time I use her and I have to feed her any way. Eli
Eli
ParticipantCongratulations and Good Luck.

ParticipantI also have a beard I trimed it back about one inch now but I’m usually pretty woolly this time of year. I should buy a mule to team up with my curly horse. Or better yet a curly mule.
Eli
ParticipantNice mule I like it.

ParticipantHowdy and welcome. I also grew up on a dairy farm. I had 3 miniature goats does that count.
Eli
ParticipantThat looks a lot like what happened to me but I was alone. I stayed in the cart and held on. Glad everyone is alright. Eli

ParticipantLooks good a lot better than I’m doing I’m almost ready to send my mare off to the Amish for a month. Or I buy a 2000 lb Belgian to slow her down a little. I had some rearing and alot of running my first time out. Eli

ParticipantKind of a long shot for me we usually have a party 4 th of July weekend. Time will tell. Eli

ParticipantI am thinking of taking my Scarlet to an Amish guy to have her finished. I told what I’ve done so far and he thinks he could finish her in a month. She has a good woa ground drives good stands to be harnessed never kicked. He said it sounds like she is mostly barn sour and he would hitch her with a large Belgian and she will pick it up easy. He also gave me some pointers that would make it easyer for me if I don’t bring her. $300 a month plus feed sounds better than buying more horses. We would go and check him out before we drop her off and check out his horses my only concern is that she will be mistreated. But it sounds pretty promising what do you think? Eli

ParticipantI am alive still coughing a lot but feel much better. I’m not sure what did it but I’m on the mend and hope to go to the woods tomorrow. I’m not sure how much zip I will have but I will give it a shot. It will be good just to be in the woods. Eli

ParticipantMy horses eat twigs and branches when we are in the woods some say they know what they need. However they didn’t need to trash my swamp white oaks, left them alone for 3 years then trashed them. The guy I got my curly horses from told me that’s why curly horses are so hardy they will eat brush or whatever it takes. I don’t know but mine are fat on good grass hay and a mineral.
I’m sure my father new why he fed the sows dirt he just never told me. Eli

ParticipantI have not given up on my dream of farming my land and talked to a few people about it. No big changes this year maybe 20 more acres of hay. The demand for land is fairly high so rent is good more than i can make farming with almost no risk. Its not just about the money but economic reality is what it is so short term no big changes. Eli

ParticipantVery cool. When i was a kid I remember seeing a roller like that someplace and wondering what it was for. It looked big to be a used to a field roller. Now if I can remember where I saw it. Eli
Eli
ParticipantWhen I was a kid we would throw a shovel or two of dirt to the sows in farrowing pen. My father said pigs like dirt. We farrowed some pigs in pens and some outside. I was young so I don’t know exactly what his thought process was. Eli

ParticipantI agree. As long as you can look around before you have to pay. And I pretty sure if someone was that down and out others would sponsor them I know I would. Is a sponsor some one option possable. Eli
