ParticipantThank you for the reply. I agree I don’t think it is the breed of horse. My curlies are 15+ hands and 1300+ lbs and will do any thing i plan to do. My friend is not at all involved in my training she was just giving me an opinion. I am looking for a second opinion I don’t want to start over. I think my horse is doing well consideringI I don’t have a lot of experience or time. In less than a year she is broke to ride, still green but over 100 hrs in the saddle. Now she is green broke to drive been hitched to a cart once and dragged every thing I can get a chain around. I rushed into the cart a bit so I backed up and am doing more ground work. I’m looking for a trainer/mentor to teach me to drive but untill I find one I will keep working with my horse on my own. And blunt is the only way to be. My Father always told me don’t ask the question unless you can handle the answer. Thanks Again Eli

ParticipantThis is what i was told to do once they know what woa means. When I ground drive I say woa take 3 steps then I stop and tighten the lines until she stands quietly then I release pressure and expect her to stand until I give a comand. I don’t know if any of this helps but it works for me. The horse I have been training is getting lighter in the lines. Good luck Eli

ParticipantDolmar is a German saw company they have been around a long time.a local small engine dealer picked them up about 5 years ago soi tried one and liked it. It’s a dealer thing. Eli

ParticipantCould you solar heat the water in the tote, then run a pipe farther into the tote contacting the the water tn the tote and drinking bucket to trans fur heat just a thought. Or circulate solar heated water via the hot water rising drawing cold water into the bottom of the solar heater. Just thoughts . I always wanted to try to solar heating waters when I was farming I had a dozen heated waters and that’s a lot of elements.

ParticipantA couple rears ago I bought a bunch of logs from a local mill that had been rejected because of wire I wanted to use them for fire wood got sick of fighting with the wire and insulators I burned the last few on a pile. I was told you could saw them with a band saw mill just before you change the blade but haven’t tried it because we have a circle mill. It get interesting when you hit metal hard on the blade and dangerous. But it is a shame to wast really nice log because of wire or nails. Eli

ParticipantI agree with Carl, but then I looked at the way I had my harness adjusted and thought I should keep quiet. I was going to put a colar harness on gypsy but couldn’t find her colar and the next one is 24 inch she could almost jump through it. At some point I want to get a cutter sleigh but will use the training cart untill then. I also prayed for snow ror the first time in years. Yesterday I had scarlet my curly mare hooked to the cart/sleigh for the first time lets just say it was a lot more exiting. Both your set ups look great have fun and Merry Christmas ! Eli

ParticipantNow that I reread your post I get it, sorry about that. I saw a u tube video with skis on a people hauler with a tie rod set up. I would probably use 1 1/2″ or 2″ x 1/4″ flat bar around the cut out rim so it could handle the twisting better, but otherwise snowmobile skis are pretty tuff I wouldn’t be afraid to try it. I think you can buy them from pioner made for that application. Eli
