ParticipantThe only thing harder than making is buying hay.
Eli
ParticipantNow your costs set your price stick to it. Remember Busness is busness and charity is charity. Nothing wrong with giving things to some one who need it but seldom is the guy who wants 25 cents off a charity case. Eli

ParticipantRemember to run your baler fast enough, Let the flywheel do the work. My father was an ag mechanic/dairy farmer and we went on baler calls all the time and 90% of the people ran their baler to slow. I was the only kid on the block with wide open throttle privileges. I to plan to make hay with horses this summer. I hope to cut and rake first with the horses and have it round baled. And second and third I hope to cut rake and small bale. But if I have problems I will break out the tractor. Good luck to all. Eli

ParticipantWhen I was a kid a friend of our family pulled a baler with an engine on with his truck. And we had a miniapolis Moline pull type combine with a gas engine by ouy barn for years. I wish I could find all that stuff now. Just rambling Eli

ParticipantI bailed thousands of bales with a farmall H and a IH 37 baler pulling a wagon. The 336 is a newer higher capacity baler But in this case it’s about how much you feed it. You could mount a 15 20 horse gas motor on the baler and pull it with your horses. Eli

ParticipantFor ten bucks each I will order some and the bushing. Still have to make sure what model it is. My neighbor wants to paint it to as long as its out. So I will be cutting in style hopefully. Thanks. Eli

ParticipantNot sure what crawler you have but some crawlers shared parts with farm tractors I’ve seen then with 3 point hitches live pto. A phone call to the tractor salvage yard may help. Just a thought Eli

ParticipantCongratulations, You can’t go wrong buying land. Buying my farm was a lot of work but I have never regretted it once. Good Luck. Eli

ParticipantThat is awesome! I think you should include at least basic financial info. It is hard to get mainstream ag lenders on board with plans that are not convential. Some sound financial research would help with start up Unfortunately a passion for horses is not enough for the bank. I think about trying something like but don’t have the spark I had 20 years ago. ParticipantI have a skid steer loader with logering tracks and a log grapple it works great in the woods and has many other uses. I have a backhoe, log splitter. bale forks, brush hog, tree spade bucket, pallet forks and 3 material buckets. I want to build a post hole digger before spring. I would be lost without this machine. We used to put over 1000 hours a year on our skid steer. Eli

ParticipantMy daughter had the harness on Tenakee today and tied baby takala to the hame. It all went pretty well but baby horse has a mind of her own. We are having so much fun with this little girl. Eli
