I watched an Amish guy plow snow with a forecart and blade the other day and thought that was cool but this is on a different level. Eli

God may have Made the Farmer of yesterday. But man created the mess we have today. I started with 40 cows and in 20 years sold with 200. From my first day in Ag class untill my last day in tech school I was taught to be a good farmer I needed to produce as much I could fo as little as I could. We never talked about quality of life or beliefs. And that was before the banks, feed mill, and all the others who profit from my expansion got a hold of me. I am not at all against Education but it was my education that taught me to build a farm in the end I didn’t want to run. I think we need to teach more quality of life and less profit. I still own my farm land and if I could turn back the clock I would do things differently but wouldn’t we all. Eli

    P.S. I still drive a Ford

Also have a mission statement. It is imperative when you are selling your value added services and not just one of the heard.

One thing I learned is get all agreements on paper no exceptions. And always have an exit plan. When I started dairy farming 25 years ago if you told me I would sell my cows in 20 years I would have said no way. But things change I didn’t like the direction my farm needed to go to be viable for 20 more years so I sold my cows and rented out the land. Work hard to develop an accurate viable plan that covers all the variables and stick with it. Failing to plan is planing to fail. Eli

Mom is a curly with Suffolk in her blood and dad was a large curly. Curlies come in all shapes and sizes. Our mare came from Joe Mead. Eli

My daughter put mom and baby in the outdoor arena today and boy can that little bugger go even in a foot of snow. I was impressed only 1 1/2 weeks old and run and jump then slide pretty cool. Eli

I have to show this to my brother last year we cut 30 pines 40 to 50 feet tall off a guys lawn. I got whipped a few times with branches I had a tractor with a rollbar however I remember him telling me I was clear. It could be an older brother thing couldn’t tell if he was laughing through all the brush. But that would make me wicked dumb.

That will be the the next thing with a patient. My horse is a American Bashcur Curly about 15.2 hands and 1250 lbs easy keeper. Pretty easy going. I have another curly a little bigger that is trained that I hope make a team with. And 1 Morgan, 1 Appaloosa, 1 Paint. Almost forgot 1 curly filly a week old out of the bigger trained mare. Eli

Thank you carl ny that is exactly what I was looking for I don’t think we will need to feed much as she won’t be doing heavy tillage just a lot of miles. I will have to adjust her feed when I get her home. Do you roll it, grind it or feed it whole? Thanks. Eli

I would give the spud gun to the monkey and and video tape it. But that’s just me. Is surprising how much trouble vines can cause. I had a tree fall half way and slide 10′ off the stump then fall. Everything was ok but I wasent expecting it. I love the woods but if you get to comfortable it throws a curve ball. A 40 foot 2000 lb curve ball! Be safe. Eli

Today we had the little fart out side running around, less than a week old and full of zip running around like nuts. And not shy around people always smelling and licking every thing and everybody. Now the two year wait to use her however It will be cool to raise a horse from start to finish. Eli

I know some viral things may cause this we used to get this in our dairy herd. Our vet would have us collect samples just in case it didn’t clear up on its own. Cattle are very durable and a little blood usually isnt a big deal. But by all means consult with a large animal vet. Eli
