ParticipantSo what was the final resul? I assume they made it! Did they sell the rig and mules? When’s the book coming out?

ParticipantWelcome Billy! I am no expert. I have been driving for around 3 years and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. But, I have gained great experience as of late. I own an excellent Fjord and a great young team of Fjord mules. I like their size. They are very strong and are easy keepers. Haflingers should be similar. I have heard that Haflingers are more headstrong than Fjords, but I haven’t had the opportunity to see for myself. This size is also a little easier to find riding tack for – although I’m sure you’ll have to search for a proper fitting saddle. It sounds like the work you’re describing should be fine although I have no idea about the manure spreader. Find someone near you to learn from. Also, don’t underestimate a good mule team for pleasurable rides and work!

ParticipantThings keep working against me trying to make it up there. I have the gig and my son is coming in for a visit, plus I just got word of a wedding reception that weekend. We’ll just have to see what happens. I will try my best to make it. If we come, it would probably be 1-3 of us!

ParticipantI hope to be there sometime on Sunday and leave Monday after lunch. How far of a drive is it from Boise? How many hours? Hope it works out for us. We’d bring Duke and the Fjules and a fore cart and maybe a chariot.
HeeHawHaven
ParticipantRobert, just found out my band has a gig on Saturday, the 8th! 🙁 I can possibly still come up for the day on Sunday the 9th if there will be people still there. Also, maybe stay that night – we don’t have school on the 10th. With the way my income is down, I have to take in all I can!

ParticipantReally nice! I just got an old freight wagon for my mule team. Took it out tonight for its maiden voyage. They did great, but it took me a little getting used to being so high up! I’ll post pics when we ge out with the camera.

ParticipantLooking forward to it….. So, you’re saying we can rough camp right there? That would be best. I probably don’t need panels. I have electric fence or they can stand at the trailer. I’ll assume we’ll be on our own for food or pot luck as it happens. Sounds like fun.
How many of you are committed to coming now that it’s getting closer?

ParticipantAny more details? I’m free from the 6th-10th! I’d like to come up Friday am and stay until Monday am. I’m working on the mini-mules.Any details on camping? Can people just stay out in the field? I say round up the trailers, set up a bonfire and have some fun! Any other musicians? I’ll bring a guitar!

ParticipantHere’s a couple of videos from this week’s fair in Boise. They ended up with a legitimate 3rd out of 5 in Gambler’s Choice – pony pairs. They would have had a 1st or 2nd in pleasure driving if Valkyrie would have stopped for the judges inspection!

ParticipantMet with Nick tonight in Homedale, Idaho. Talked with Rinker by phone. The mules and wagon are in great shape. I can’t believe how awesome the mules look after 1700 miles. They have around 250 more to go including a big climB over the Blues in Oregon. They should make Pendleton in time. We hope to be able to support them at the parade. I’ll try to post pics tomorrow!
