    Taylor,
Was doing a lot of firewood last year and was getting $65.00 To $75.00 per 8′ cord, and 150.00 for split and delivered! but that was in indiana look out for the guys that say they can move lotts of wood most times they are blowing smoke! If I remember right you have that horse drawn forwarder dont you ? If thats the case on your split wood I would find some 48×40 pallets get some 2×2 oak and make 3 post on each side stack your wood on the pallet you will get a rank on a pallet if you sack it to 60″ Then you can use your loader to move it from there on and you only need to handle it once!
    Hope this helps Lancek

This is a perfect example of our little conversation the other day Scott. If the goverment was smart insted of trying to re eduucate and re locate these people they should be re investing some of that stimulas mony in letting the employies take over the plant I am sure that if they wanted to they could turn around the plant and make it profitable agin! There are still makets out there and if it is finaced in the right way they would be able to get through this mess and start working the whole area agian Tim

    Hey Mitch
you can make the same rails out of 2×4 aluminen. Get two 8 ft rails and four 12 inch braces have the braces welded to the rails and place angle iron tabs on the sides two on the front two on the sides and two on the ends then put lag srews through hloes in the tabs and use then to fasten to the log! This should give you a stable platform to run your saw. Ther are some comercial rails made but I am not sure who sells them any more! But this should be much cheaper if you buy your material right Tim

I was looking on one of the log arch web sites and seen a timber jack, cant remember wich one though. Anyways they showed a jack that was a long pole with a spike on one end and a jack on the other! Didnt look like it was hard to make but it worked like a charm! You basicly stuck the jack end in the ground and the spiiked end in the tree put preasure on it and then made your chip and back cut till it was almost ready to go and then you pushed the tree over with the jack! I wouldnt want to do a large tree with this jack but trees up to 16″ I dont see how you could go wrong. Tim

    Carl,
I was just wondering when I left Vermount in the late 70s one of the prime reasons was that people from bosten new yourk and other magor citys in the north east were flocking to vermount and buying it up. [IE stowe] Is this trind stiil in effect or has it subsided Tim
