ParticipantThe other thing you could do is build a set of stalls that are road legal 102″ wide by up to 40′ long [no need to go that long but you could ! And place four jacks on it like you would a camper trailer that would lower it to the ground level! It would an extra trip to move you to site but you could arrange it to hold all necessary equipment food and water. This would also serve as a tax write off because the time and money spent to move is tax deductible

ParticipantI agree with big lug buying a team of hafflingers now and adding a full size team later would work well ! I think you will find more people interested in you doing work for them as you get out there and you may ned the extra horses as you get the work! ParticipantI think it is a necessary evil as loading logs with a horse can be done but it is dangerous for the horse and teamster! And if anybody says anything tell them that your horses and your safety is more in portent than being a purist
