    The other thing you could do is build a set of stalls that are road legal 102″ wide by up to 40′ long [no need to go that long but you could ! And place four jacks on it like you would a camper trailer that would lower it to the ground level! It would an extra trip to move you to site but you could arrange it to hold all necessary equipment food and water. This would also serve as a tax write off because the time and money spent to move is tax deductible

    I agree with big lug buying a team of hafflingers now and adding a full size team later would work well ! I think you will find more people interested in you doing work for them as you get out there and you may ned the extra horses as you get the work! The best advice i can give you is do what you say and say only what you can do,

    I think it is a necessary evil as loading logs with a horse can be done but it is dangerous for the horse and teamster! And if anybody says anything tell them that your horses and your safety is more in portent than being a purist

    Hey near horse there is a lot of videos on utube that explain in detail about the prodgect I am currently trying to build a gasification system to run my saw mill and dry kilns

    Yea that was required reading at Sterling and when my kids got old enough I had them read it too it was a great way for them to learn history!

    your right Scott that is a good book I had it and throughly enjoyed it we also made our own chains for ripping but I wasn’t sure how chain saw savvy our frind jac was
