    Hey Jac
an Alaskan mill is a chain saw with a jig attached that will allow you to cut lumber! It dose a good job but is slow the cost for one is around $300.00 american and can be bought at Baileys supply they are on the web ! there are some plans out there to build your own one comes to mind is on U tube. The biggest thing is getting the specialty chain for ripping it makes a better cut and smother to you can also order this from Baileys! depending on the size of your saw you can cut up to a 20 inch log but bigger than that tends to take a lot of time and energy

I don’t think that is absolutely true in Scotts neck of the woods may be but in eastern forest there should be no excuse to high grade if you have a good value added system in place! And don’t say that you don’t have a sawmill or the equipment to manufacture these products there are small shops in every area of the country that will do the work and in most cases you can get them to do the work and still sell your product cheaper that the big mills! Its just a matter of doing a little foot work and sharing the wealth and thats what a true value added system is about connecting community together.

not to mention what the horses thought holly crap what is that bitting at my heals 😀 They must of been terrified the whole time ! And yes this was a pic of the horse dragging from the river to the mill! But still it goes to show what a good teamster and a little ingenuity can do.

Jim you hit the nail on the head but the biggest and saddest problem is getting everybody on board they all know what the gov. is doing but as you said they have been brain washed to think that is the only way! I don’t no the answer to this problem but history will repeat it self and sooner or later people will stand up and do something about it! What do you say folks as the saying goes a journey begins with one step how many would be willing to with hold paying there bills foe one week?

You know what really gets me is why the American public allows cooperate america to get away with this If we are smart enough to put a man on the moon why are we not smart enough to figure out that we are paying more in interest than the actual thing we bought! Or that our live should not be governed by a credit score. You would think they would wake up and do something about it and don’t say there is nothing you can do because if everybody just kept our money in our pocket for one week didn’t pay there bills and told cooperate america that unless they changed there ways they wouldn’t get anything than I think they would change there minds !!!!! 😡

Well this takes me back to my original thoughts on dafi by setting up a net work to draw from, then certain spices and inventory could be controlled ! By having a central clearing house of members, if an orded came in for white oak and a certain mill did not have enough to fill that order the another mill near by could fill the rest!
Or you could do a pull type ordering system that dose not require you to keep a large inventory this is a system that is being taught in seminars all over the country! And Carl yes this mean s that you would have to make some people wait but most get past this if you explain to them that it will save mony in the long run because you dont have to carry a large inventory!

I’m perplexed with this one although I see where great things happen with this idea this would entail a lot of marketing. You have four major groups that are involved in this there is the furniture and architectural group the end consumer and the government! I think the cabinet and architectural groups would be the easy st to target and they would bring on the end user!
I think this would also require a separate web site doing it on just a local level would be pretty hard Tim
