abandoned wood lots

Been cutting and dragging firewood for the house this week in the wood lot we got permission to use. We have finished the first section and yesterday I took a walk through the next section. It seems a lot of these old farm wood lots were used as dumps ! The undergrowth has receeded at this time of year and revealed 60 or more years of crap… old fencing materials, bottles, corrogated iron and an old strainer post with one of those old hammer in staples with the gate hook on… the post had nearly rotted but the spike was pointing to the sky!!!..rusty barb wire blends in surprisingly well… What im trying to say is do a real good search of a strange wood before taking your team in. Im sorry to say I am breaking ranks and using the tractor for this job now.. or at least for this section till i get to check out the rest of the wood. Puncturing the tyre is bad enuf but puncturing a team mates sole is not an option…
