ParticipantEvery crutch has to have a term applied to it today, so there you go.
Even Commissioner Merrill of the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture was a victim of it recently, when a passerby, unaware of the amount of smoke and steam generated by a sap boiling operation, called and reported a fire on her farm.
A few years ago while exhibiting at a fair, a teenage girl, from NH no less, asked me to point out the differences between a duck and a goose for her school project. The poor girl genuinely did not know the difference. Worse, she appeared not to care to learn really, as long as she was able to list the requirements to complete her task.
I’m increasingly met with disbelief from new poultry or rabbit owners, who are shocked to learn that these animals do not have to be kept in heated facilites in the winter. Ignorance is everywhere.April 7, 2011 at 11:21 pm #66668Marshall
