Inactivejust want to know if anyone in my area(utica oh) that is into working horses would like to get together and workem my farm or yours. just gets kinda boring doing it by your self all the time (my wife and kids sometimes) not to many people my age(29) has much intrest in fooling with these horses. i have a perch mare that is a really nice horse, good broke i can do just about any thing with her i guess i feel i was born about 90 years to late so if any person wants to get together and bring there horse and maybe pull some firewood or whatever i have 160 acres we can play on. you can email me @ markclark@embarqmail.com

ParticipantI’d be game if you were in Northern Ohio. I know all about the generational gap problem. I’m 27 and the average age of my fellow horsemen is about 70! Keep plugging away man.

ParticipantI know what you mean. Not too many 28 year old women would rather spend the day behind a walking plow and team than go shopping. Friends to do draft horse stuff with are in short supply everywhere I think.

InactiveBoy – I can relate, too. Although I’ve got a few years on you guys – all my “horsey” friends are into riding (and shopping for riding). Driving scares them, as do my big horses… so – I go it on my own. My own dh doesn’t have even the slightest desire to do anything with them… you can only talk about so many things with an 11 yr old, and the little squirt is not quite strong enough to help. That’s why I love reading these forums – even though I don’t log, and don’t have much more than my garden to farm – every little bit helps!

ParticipantWe are in the same situation here too few teamsters to do things with.
The young generation just don’t seem to have an interest,we have to
get the interest up or the old ways will be lost.
