Crabapple Farm
ParticipantWe are looking for an apprentice for this fall and winter, who would transition in the spring into our assistant Farm Manager.
We are a 185 acre diversified farm doing some of almost everything. We raise vegetables, berries, herbs, and flowers for a CSA and farmers markets, do greenhouse and hoophouse production almost year-round, beef, lamb, eggs, dairy, grain, firewood, and seeds. In addition to saving a bunch of our own seed, we are doing some breeding work with several crops. This winter we have several carpentry and equipment projects that we would like to do.While not purely animal powered, we are working on transitioning into being more pure. Right now we have a team of Shorthorn oxen and a Belgian mare. Part of why we are looking for an assistant farm manager is to help us transition more fully to draft power. As we get the equipment, experience, and labor to effectively utilize draft power, we are planning to get another team of horses.
