ParticipantI have had some major changes in our herd structure in the last month. My Alpha Mare died. Not sure what of, but it was quick. My PIA gelding was at a loss without his mare. He has always been a bit goofy, but the goofyness got to be no fun for me, so I found him a home. Huge relief.
I had a driving lesson with my other gelding over the weekend and the instructor who I only see about every 8 weeks kept telling me how different my little guy was, he asked if there was a change in the dynamics at home. He was so relaxed and willing to listen to me and in general he was a blue ribbon horse. In the past there had been a lot of bit chewing, and this weekend there was none of that, no head tossing and no charging ahead. It was a real pleasure for me.
My big horses (all gone now) and my littles shared a fence line but not the same paddock. Do you think the fact that the bigs are gone makes the littles more at ease? What ever it is I am happy for it.
