InactiveHello all!
The Possibility Alliance HQ, an intentional community based on Gandhian non-violence, is seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and enthusiastic teamster/trainer to enhance and cooperatively run our draft horse program. Our electricity and petroleum-free sanctuary is run exclusively on human and horse power. You will help us harness our team of Haflingers, “Winter” and “Muse”, for various farm tasks, events and excursions. Specifically, our team is used for organic crop production (plow, disk, harrow), sustainable forestry (ground skid, log arch), pasture management (mowing, haying), sorghum pressing, and hauling people and things (wagon, buggy, road cart).
Our community is committed to creating a culture without violence and transforming with loving actions systems which do not uplift all life. We focus on simplicity, service, activism, inner-work, celebration, joy and gratitude. Along with working our horses you will have the opportunity to participate in natural building, gardening and food preservation, food forest and orchard management, yoga, community service and pizza parties in our adobe oven! The wide array of life on our farm includes: 7 dairy goats, 2 dairy cows, 30-40 laying hens, ducks and geese and several bee hives. We explore and inform our decisions from the principles of Permaculture, community living and Gandhian non-violence.
The chosen teamster/trainer will learn all facets of life on the farm as well as the community it supports, while cooperatively helping to enhance the draft horse program. You must demonstrate patience, knowledge and skill with our draft horses. We are not a production farm, but nonetheless, strive to farm and work our team in a gentle, productive and methodical manner that uplifts and enriches both human and horse.
Previous draft horse experience required. Community living a plus. We have various rustic accommodations (barn, tents, farm house). Delicious homemade meals are fresh, organic and mostly from the land.
This is surely the only opportunity like it in the country! Please contact Adam Mitchell or Ethan Hughes at the Possibility Alliance HQ for more details and a visit!
