InactiveDoes anyone out there use oxen to harvest hay using a round baler and a forecart. My wife and I are starting a small dairy and in the future wish to use oxen for haymaking instead of a tractor to the extent possible. We will be putting up both dry hay and baleage. Assuming the forecart can be fitted with a hydralic system is there anything else I need to know about using a round baler with oxen. I had hoped to bend a few ears on the subject @ Tunbridge but unfortunatly I have a prior commtment that weekend.
Also, anyone ever worked with dutch belted oxen? I would be intrested in there thoughts.

InactiveHi John, Tillers International in Michigan would be a good source for information on field work and haying with oxen. They have a website – a great organization. I got started with oxen with their Oxen Basics course in 2001. I have a team of 6 yr. old Dutch Belts – what would you like to know?
