    Hello my name is LaNette.

I have an unusual use for my draft cross. Together we re-seed/re-naturalize areas that were previously in production for the oil and gas companies. The oil fields of southeast New Mexico are finally starting to play out and areas previously in production are being put back to grazing use. Re-naturalizing these lands involves multiple phases. In the beginning it takes heavy machinery to remove equipment and to pull up the hard-packed caliched pads. I come in after that to fertilize, seed, and do whatever else. Why use a horse? Well, sometimes these areas have their access roads removed after the equipment is hauled off. This is done by either the county or the state land offices. After the roads are disked up, there are motorized vehicle restrictions put in place to the original pad. Its a messed up deal that has had these petroleum companies mad for years. But, then there’s me and my horse to the rescue! Its good work when I can get it; the rest of the time I either ride pipelines (on horseback) or make maps for companies. I find myself in some really novel situations with my work and I’ve been able to use the disscussion forums to help me problem solve. So keeping on chatting out there!

Welcome LaNette, you have an interesting use of draft power. It is great to have you on board, and we’re looking forward to your description of situations you run into out there. Jump on in. Carl
