ParticipantHow do you ox people carry your chain when moving from task to task? Sound like a no brain problem but the chain can be a nuisance to deal with when it’s not hooked to a load and you have a distance to walk. I have been kind of wrapping it on the yoke but am wondering if someone has a special technique or trick to handle and carry it?

ParticipantI just wrap it around the bows of the yoke.

ModeratorI would wrap one pass around to inner bow on the nigh ox, one pass around the inner bow on the off ox, then I would hang the hook on the end of the chain on the inner bow of the nigh ox.
This is just a pic of a pair of calves I started a few years ago, but it pretty much shows it. I just had to sell these two for beef a couple of months ago, I just never got around to using them. They were a bit bigger than in this pic, 2100 & 2200#. NormandexHolstein

ParticipantYou can just drag it, or wrap it around your yoke pins that your straps wrap around.
