ParticipantBig horses I kinda misunderstood you for a second and I just went out and disengaged the cutter bar and rotated the shaft by had from the front and it rotates great so you were correct it seems like its in the ring gear now. I’m gettin ready to go to work so tomorrow ill drain the oil and check the ring gears and make sure its not bent or damaged in anyway and check the allignment. And no I don’t have millers book the only book I really have is the draft horse primer, I’ve wanted to get his book soon. I appreciate the help. I actually had a job off in billings montana this time last year to run a peice of equipment in a tunnel they were building in billings I think is where it was, at the time I worked underground in the mines and run a roof bolter.

ParticipantUgh..you can keep that underground stuff! haha (I’m an above ground, non-metal guy) Billings is across the state from us, and we usually term that end as “western North Dakota” anyway….we’re over here where it’s pretty! hahaha
Good luck on the mower, and hope you find it’s just a little garbage in the bottom of the case or something simple.

ParticipantYea I cleaned the gearbox out some when I first got it when I poured oil in it to soak and it was full of mud douber nests lol so id say that could be a culprit

ParticipantI hadn’t messed with the actual fram part of the mower for a while big horses and when I went and engaged the cutter bar (the actual bar is still off) the wheels rolled perfect lol. I guess one of those gears where it had been dry for a while soaked in that oin and freed it up all the way and now it works perfect lol. Can’t start the morning before work any better lol and to top it all off I was at my farm and I was under the barn looking for any old parts that my paw paw once had and I found 2 bars with grass boards (quite rusty) one was bent quite a bit less than the current one I’m working on, and the other was perfectly straight so I brought it home and changed the grassboard off the #7 to it and started assembling it back together. Good weekend I thought lol
