I just brought home a second binder, no repairs needed on this baby!

One problem I am having is there is no tongue truck and it looks like there might not have been one. Both tongues, the short and long have the lugs that fit the slots under the apron and on the front. Well, they each have ONE lug. There is a piece of 5/8″ round with an eye on the end going to the spot where the lug slot is. How in heck does that eye attach to the frame? What kind of gizmo is missing at the end? It looks like there should be a mating pair of eyes with a pin to connect them together. On the tongues, several feet out, is the correct spring loaded pin to fit both the apron and the frame holes.

I will take some photos in the morning.

The lack of a tongue truck is frustrating. Anyone have a truck but no good binder?

Everything else that came out of this barn was in working order, just dust off, oil and run. So I don’t think anything is missing. With a man on the seat the tongue weight on the neck yoke would have been just a few pounds, but of course the turning ability given by the tongue truck is not there.

    Puzzled.

Wife is up in barn seeing an American Mulefoot sow through another birthing. Two so far, one open face, the other a stem wind. (If you haven’t heard that one, it refers to babies and pocket watches)

I will try to take a look at my binder soon to see if I can help.

Why do you want a tongue truck? I don’t understand.

Once you use a tongue truck on a binder it is habit forming. Nice turns, no neck weight on the team, I just like it!

So it articulates at the truck I guess. I use a short pole and a forecart so the result is much the same I guess.
