InactiveVery nice John, i like the look and feel of old barns. We put up a couple of new buildings on our farm over the last couple of years. We did more conventionally framed structures as that is what i have the most experience with, but used vertical pine board and batten siding. The shed for the horses is finished now, but the other is still under construction so to speak.

ParticipantHere’s our new barn. It is 50×78 which includes 14′ sheds on 3 sides and 12′ walls. It is stick-built, slab on grade construction with attic trusses for hay storage. All wood (minus trusses and sheathing) come from our property. It includes a 30×30 heated shop and a 20×30 horse barn with two box stalls, tack room, tie area, and run-in shed. I hired a crew of 4 guys to erect it. This was the first time in my life I hired someone to build something for me and it was like Christmas – well worth the money. Now for the siding and interior details…..

ParticipantHey George,
Could you post any pics of the interior? I’d like to see how your hay loft is built using prefab attic trusses as well as the rest of your interior. Do you have an outside access to the haymow to load hay in?
Thanks –
PS – I too am having barn envy. Covered/dry storage is always in short supply at our place!
