Membersomewhere we had a discussion on that, but I can’t retrieve it from the dungeons
So, what was the reason for this way of pulling a load of 2 oxen in a neck-yoke with lots of room in between them?

ParticipantElke, I am not sure exactly what your question is. Are you referring to the length of the yoke or the way the team acts in the yoke?

ParticipantIf Fabian’s link is correct then maybe you are referring to “hauling out”.
If so it can be caused by several things like poor footing, being to close in the yoke, not willing to working together as a team, or just a fun way to annoy the teamster and get out of work!

the latter: feet are closer to the teammate of the other side than the body
I suppose a lot of energy gets lost that way instead of ending in a forwards motion

Memberwith lots of room in between them?
not enough room for them; with a new yoke and 10inches extra in between (plus the extra inches they already had in the old yoke) they walked straight today (first time trial in the new yoke)
thanks for the think tank - AuthorPosts
