ParticipantSpecifically, I am looking for a used set of panniers for my daughter. She wants to do a little packing and I have already given her one of my crossbucks. I would like to have a soft side, either Utah type or others similar. They don’t have to be like new and can be well used and soiled, but I would prefer them not to be full of holes.
If anyone has the whole set including the sawbucks (used), I may also be interested the set
or
a sawbuck pack saddle (used) with rigging.
Thanks,

ParticipantTom, you can have your local saddle shop make some canvas panniers pretty easily and fairly inexpensive. Likewise, kitchen, (hard) panniers are easy to make out of plywood. Just use heavy 1/4″ harness/rigging leather for the hang straps. About the only time i see used panniers/pack saddles for sale out here is either when an outfitter goes bust or someone dies.

ParticipantThanks Scott,
I appreciate the reply. I already have a set of soft and hard panniers for myself. My daughter likes the soft ones. I might have to do as you say and have a set of the soft ones made. Too expensive to buy new ones for no more use than she will get out of them. Your right, no one gives them up. I bought mine used out of a Albuquerque shop. The packer had died and the wife put them up for sale. I haven’t found anymore used ones that were any good since.
