ParticipantI found a bob sled with a 6×12 flat rack he redid it all ground up reusing the steel and built it out of white oak and had it treated. how ever its sat out side year round and does not have the “new” look. every thing seems to be solid comes with everything to use it, just hook and go.

ParticipantAin’t much you can get for $250 so if this is rebuilt you’re gettig a deal and a half.

ParticipantI agree with everyone else, new scoots go for up to $900.00 new. This sled sounds like a pretty good deal.

Participantwell I went and got that sled, came at quite a price. when we were unloading it at my place my friend dropped the flat bed part of it and it landed on her foot. a few hours later we went in and it was broken so she was laid up. then I figured I’d hook them to it so I harnese my horses and got a going, pulled and rides just awesome and then I was turning it in the yard on some snow and next thing you know the pole broke… so there she sat like a fish out of water, I looked at the break today and it was right next to a knot so I dont know if thats what caused it or what.

ParticipantYou don’t want any knots in your pole. That’s what caused the break,my guess anyway. Hope your friend recovers soon.

Participantanyone able to give me a tip of what kind of wood, I would want a pole made from? I know he had white oak on it before. but its really weird, its like 8 inches wide at the hitch point on the front of the sled then goes down to about a 2×2 thanks

ParticipantI like Ash. many people use a lot of other types of wood, depends on what is available in your area.

ParticipantYes, wood that is locally available. I’ve heard of/used ash, hickory and white oak, also red oak sometimes, though I prefer the others. Jay
